About Chally Grundwag, LMFT

I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in California (LMFT #122241). I offer in-person counseling and psychotherapy in my offices in San Mateo and Palo Alto, and tele-therapy via zoom. My therapy orientation is person centered, relational and trauma-informed.

My therapy style is eclectic, which means I use a combination of evidence based methods such as mindfulness, somatic approaches, talk therapy, and attachment theory, with creative expression. I see myself as a hybrid brain nerd and creative thinker.

Each person has a unique story, life experiences that influence how we feel, think and move in the world. I believe every one of us has the innate ability to change, heal and grow. I enjoy working with people who feel they don’t fit the mold, and hold great appreciation for people who seek to live authentically and in peace with who they are. I am a true ally for LGBTQIA+ and questioning folks. My personal experience with the beauty, messiness and complexities of living in a multi-faith, multi-cultural family, brings deep understanding and compassion for those who feel misrepresented and misunderstood.

All questions, feelings and thoughts are welcome.

If you are a sexual trauma survivor, please know that there is hope. Healing is possible. I have extensive experience working specifically with survivors of sexual trauma, including survivors of childhood sexual abuse, both individually and in groups. Your story matters, you deserve to be validated and heard, and you are not alone.
